The Fabulous Four: Pet Friendly Hotels at Universal Studios

Half of the eight resort-style hotels on the Universal Studios property are pet friendly. All under the Loews Hotel & Resort brand, these four hotels not only welcome cats and dogs but also adore pets and feature a thoughtful program called “Loews Loves Pets” that provides amenities for your fur baby while you enjoy your stay with them. From specialized bedding, leashes, collars, water bowls, placemats, litter boxes, and more, your furry friend will be (deservedly) spoiled at these locations. The icing on the puppuccino is the special treats, dog friendly walking trails maps, and gourmet room service menu that’s available for both dogs and cats. Up to two pets are permitted per room for a $100 fee in a pet friendly room category.

Rules of the Woof: Pet Policies and Permitted Areas

Pets should be leashed at all times while in public areas within the Universal Studios properties and are not permitted indoors at any of the hotel group’s restaurants or within the pool areas. For the safety of your pets and others, pets are not welcome within any of the theme parks including Universal Studios, Universal Islands of Adventure, Universal Volcano Bay, or even Universal Citywalk — bummer, we know! However, dogs are invited to tailwag along the pet friendly trails that are included in the dog friendly walking trails maps offered at each hotel as well as on the grassy areas. To ensure your hotel stay with your pet is tail-wagging wonderful, you must bring proof of your pet’s up-to-date vaccinations and current records from a licensed veterinarian. This will make for the smoothest stay possible.

Doggy Day Care: Keeping Your Pup Pampered

In years past, Universal Studios offered kennel services for those who were looking to board their pup while they enjoyed the theme park, but the service has not yet reopened post-COVID. However, there is a very nearby doggy daycare and boarding service that’s mere minutes away with excellent reviews. Universal Dog Day Care Orlando, located 2.5 miles from Universal Studios, offers professional and reliable pet sitting services for your beloved pooch. They provide a deluxe dog bed, fresh blanket, and photo updates throughout the day to put your mind at ease while you adventure throughout the park. Dogs will enjoy leashed walks in a fully-fenced shy-acre yard as well as air-conditioned playtime in a 1,500 sq. ft. indoor area. Rates vary based on availability and need. On the Move: Pet Friendly Transportation Options

Because pets are not allowed throughout much of the Universal Studios property (with the exception of service animals) it’s best to plan to travel around the park via private car. Pets are not welcome on the shuttle boats or on some of the pathways that connect the parks and hotels including the paths that are a part of Universal CityWalk.

Beyond the Bark: Off-site Restaurants and Attractions

Orlando isn’t just fun for humans… when it’s your fur child’s turn to adventure there are plenty of dog friendly parks, restaurants, tours, and more for them to enjoy, too. Lake Eola Park is the go-to destination if you’re visiting Orlando with your furry friend in tow. This downtown Orlando park features 43 acres with a one-mile loop around the lake — all dog friendly for leashed pets. Pups can also play on the pet playground and join you for a swan boat ride on the lake (for dogs 5lbs and under.) Other suggested parks include Dr. Phillips Dog Park, a spacious off-leash dog park; Blue Jacket Park, perfect if your pup likes to swim; or Mead Botanical Garden which welcomes leashed dogs to stroll a beautiful and serene setting with their beloved human. After playing in the park, head to Bark Avenue Bakery for the cutest ever all-natural homemade dog treats. Perfect for your good boy or girl!

While parts of Universal Studios can feel deflating without an overwhelming number of pet friendly areas we’d still encourage you to explore the destination with your furry friends. The four hotels mentioned which all feature the Loews Loves Pets program are more than welcoming and will spoil your pooch properly!
