About The Public Kitchen & Bar

Is The Public Kitchen & Bar dog friendly?

Yes! The Public Kitchen & Bar in Savannah is Dog Friendly! Leashed pups are welcome in their ground-floor sidewalk seating area. The rooftop seating is unfortunately reserved for humans only. The staff is super welcoming to pups, offering water and a regular smile. The night we visited, which was actually a quiet night in Savannah, there were three other dogs dining outside with us. We always find that to be a good sign! While there is no barrier between your table and the street, the sidewalks are big, with lots of space between your table, the foot traffic and the road.

Food Situation:

The menu, and the restaurant as a whole for that matter, are casual but definitely an “elevated casual.” The dishes have some nice creative touches that make The Public Kitchen stand out from the traditional American-style menu that we consistently see on our travels. If you are there for dinner, go for a strong start with the Crispy Brussels Sprouts and then dive into the Shrimp and Grits, the locally sourced grass-fed burger or the pork chop with the spiced apple butter. Yum.  We did not have an opportunity to taste their lunch menu but, in addition to offering the shrimp and grits and burger dishes, they have quite a few good looking sandwich options like the hot ham and cheddar melt and the pork confit. While by no means is this menu veggie-focused, there are a few vegetarian options to fill that need as well.

Drink Situation:

They have a full bar featuring hand-crafted cocktails like the gin & pear vodka based Lucy in the Fog and the Forbidden Sour with bourbon, pomegranate liqueur, lemon, and egg white. There is a nice craft beer list featuring brews from around the country, and the wine list is solid with a nice global selection, many of which are served by the glass.

Location and Other Tips:

Located on the corner of Bull and Liberty streets, The Public Kitchen is close to Chippewa Square and many other historical sites. It could be a great stop for lunch after a morning of touring or the perfect spot to end your day with your pup as it is in walking distance to many of our favorite pet friendly hotels in Savannah.
