Located in the Schnitzelburg neighborhood just three miles from downtown Louisville, Monnik Beer Co. features a large, social dog friendly patio that is partially covered and also protected from street traffic, as well as sidewalk seating areas where you and your best friend can enjoy a pint or two. (Monnik Beer Co. is also a proper restaurant with an extensive menu, so unfortunately, pets are not allowed inside.)

Monnik Beer Co. is not only a spectacular brewery, it’s a full-service sit-down restaurant as well (think classic bar snacks, sandwiches, burgers, salads and yummy entrées such as sauerbraten and fish & chips).
Drink Situation:
Monnik Beer Co. offers a full bar with delicious cocktail combinations, but as you can probably guess from its name, it’s all about the BEER. Your choice includes twenty options on tap and half a dozen or so canned flagship beers. We like Italian Disco, a light and crisp pilsner with a hint of citrusy hops that makes it unique.
The name situation:
One of Monnik’s founders is from the Netherlands, and “monnik” is the Dutch word for monk. Who perfected the ancient process and brewed the best beer in the world for centuries? Yep, dedicated monks who really, really loved beer!
