Yes! Leon’s Fine Poultry & Oysters is dog friendly and it makes our curated list of the best pet friendly places in Charleston, SC. Located on the northern part of King Street near its sister restaurants Melfi’s and Little Jacks, Leon’s is a casual restaurant situated in what was once a former body shop. The front patio is covered and spacious with fans and heaters and a nice row of plants serving as a barrier to the bustling King Street.
Food Situation:
Raw Oysters, Grilled Oysters, Fried Chicken, ridiculous salads and sandwiches and even old school Scalloped Potatoes. It is not high brow nor is it low brow. It is more of like “hip brow” and totally indicative of Charleston. You can’t go wrong with anything on this menu but you definitely should not miss the grilled oysters.
Drink Situation:
The beverage menu is a total standout for a casual eatery. The champagne and fried chicken pairing will stop any oenophile in their tracks. The overall list is literally better than many white tablecloth spots in the city. I have to stop now or the gushing will go on forever. Okay, I can’t. So you’ve got this great Champagne collection and then you have a section called “Cheapish Wine” and you offer frozen “Rosé Slushies” it really does not get any better to appeal to all wine drinking sensibilities. There are also specialty cocktails and a nice selection of whiskey, tequila, and rum. The craft draft, bottle and cider list is solid and it of course is balanced out with their “Cheapish Beer” selection. Cheers to Leon’s!
Location and Other Tips:
Located on the northern part of King Street, Leon’s is a short ride from many of our favorite pet friendly hotels in Charleston and definitely worth the trek. Please note though that King Street is busy but Leon’s patio is large and is set off quite a bit from the street. Still, if your pup is skittish and prone to dart off, this is probably not the spot for you.
