About The Vendue
The Vendue “art hotel” consists of 2 historic buildings to choose from, each with its own vibe. The newly renovated “19 Vendue” boasts a modern flair & playfully sophisticated ambiance. And “26 Vendue” honors the history and heritage of its 1785 warehouse origin. The ulti-mutt perk is the “Artist in Residence” based in 26 Vendue with art tours offered daily! They also offer a fabulous rooftop bar, but unfortunately, furry friends are not allowed. The decor is historic and artsy and each room seemed to have a different character. Ours had a lovely fireplace and seating area. One other bonus is the complimentary French-style breakfast is delivered to your room each morning.
The Vendue Pet Policy
Yes! The Vendue is pet friendly! They welcome furry friends of all sizes! Per the hotel: “We love pets here!” There is a one-time $95 pet fee which we felt was worth it as the historic rooms and lobby area were very well maintained. (Note: The pet fee is waived for service animals.)
Are the lobby and other common areas of The Vendue pet friendly?
The Vendue’s lobby is decidedly pet friendly, with beautiful art, a fabulous ambiance and ample seating for those who’d like to enjoy the afternoon wine reception or just some downtime after a ruff day! Two paws up for the Vendue!
What is the check-in experience like at The Vendue? Do they do anything special for pets?
Treats are stationed at the front desk to welcome four-legged guests to The Vendue. They don’t offer puppy gift bags, but when we checked in, our pup had an upset belly, and they went above and beyond to fetch a nice juicy chicken breast for her and delivered it to our room.
Is the location of The Vendue dog friendly?
At The Vendue, you’re fur-tunate to be in an ideal location: just off of East Bay Street and a block from the Joe Riley Waterfront Park, 2 Piers, and the “Pineapple Fountain.” Trot down to the opposite end of the park and discover the “East Bay Dog Park.” Another bone-ified tip is to walk South, through the nearby “South of Broad” historic district, and head down to the White Point Gardens/Battery Park area. Pups who arrive before 9 am get to enjoy “off-leash” hours! Finally, the Vendue is within easy distance to the meet-up point for one of Charleston’s fabulous pet-friendly historical walking tours led by Bulldog Tours.
