About Waterfront Park
Is Waterfront ParkDog Friendly?
Yes! Dogs on leashes are welcome in Waterfront Park, with one notable, unfortunate exception: Dogs are not allowed to cross the Ohio River on the popular, pedestrian-only Big Four Bridge. Located in downtown Louisville, entry into Waterfront Park is free, and the park is open year-round from 6:00 AM until 11:00 PM.
More Info:
Waterfront Park sits between downtown Louisville and the Ohio River, a long, narrow, urban park covering 85 acres and featuring beautiful views of the river and bridges. The park is home to a number of major annual events, including Thunder Over Louisville and the Forecastle Music Festival. The famous steamboat Belle of Louisville docks near the western end of the park (near Joe’s Crab Shack, which has dog friendly outdoor seating). If you’re visiting Louisville and staying in the downtown area, Waterfront Park just might be the most convenient place for you and your fur baby to exercise. The walking paths are flat and paved, with plenty of manicured grass. NOTE: As with all urban parks, be aware of your surroundings and it’s probably best to visit Waterfront Park during daylight hours.
