About Locust Grove
Is Locust GroveDog Friendly?
Yes, Locust Grove is dog friendly and welcomes dogs on leash on its bucolic, park-like grounds. The National Historic Landmark is 55 rolling acres and a wonderful place to exercise with your furry friend.
More Info:
Built in 1792, Locust Grove is a landmarked Georgian mansion and the final home of Louisville’s founder, General George Rogers Clark. Surrounding the historic home you and your best friend will discover a number of outbuildings, manicured gardens, and trails that guide you through a wooded area.
Locust Grove is just six miles up the Ohio River from downtown Louisville. Free parking and public restrooms are available. Entering and enjoying the grounds is free but tickets are required to enter the buildings, including the historic home (note dogs are not allowed inside the buildings).
Locust Grove’s grounds are open from sunrise to sunset. The Visitors’ Center is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 AM. until 4:30 PM (but closed in January, most holidays, and of course on Derby Day).
Please note that Locust Grove is not a dog park. Your furry friend must remain on leash at all times so, the good news is, you will both get in your steps for the day!
