About James Island County Park
Is James Island County Park Dog Friendly?
Yes! James Island County Park is dog friendly! The park charges $2 per person to enter and includes an enormous off leash park as well as multiple trails. Hours vary on the season. Rules are the same as for most dog parks, be a responsible owner, stay in control of your pup, pick up after them and have a grrreat time!
More Info:
This beautiful natural park is around a 15 min drive from the historic area of Charleston and is well worth the trek. The off-leash dog park area is one of the biggest we have seen. There are many grassy acres to run in and also a dog friendly lake for a swim. There are areas for small and large pups however our small pup took advantage of the large park and the local sniff and greet committee was super friendly. It is still a very "natural" park so there is wildlife including the occasional alligator so just be aware and keep your dog nearby. The day we were visiting there were numerous dogs frolicking in the lake and many others enjoying the huge expanse to run. There is a dog shower outside of the park for the furry friends who like to frolic and roll. If your pup is not so keen on socializing, there are numerous walking trails throughout the park to take advantage of. Be sure to grab a map from the ranger when you come in.
