Is Bernheim ForestDog Friendly?
Yes! Dogs are welcome at Bernheim in all outdoor areas and inside the gift shop and café building. Entry to Bernheim is technically free but a donation of $15 per car is recommended. The forest is open year-round, but the hours vary so check here for details. Your furbulous friend must be leashed at all times and of course, clean up any potty breaks.

Just 30 minutes from downtown Louisville straight south on I-65, Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest covers 16,140 acres (about the size of Manhattan) and offers 40 miles of dog-friendly hiking trails for all skill levels. (Yes, that’s not a typo, 40 MILES!) Trail lengths range from 0.25 miles to 13.75 miles, from easy to difficult. Bernheim is a perfect day-trip from Louisville. Isaac’s Café offers dog-friendly outdoor and indoor seating, so you can enjoy a meal before, after or during a day of exploring the forest and hiking the trails. Bernheim also offers all kinds of programs and events, some of which are dog friendly, and some are not. You can learn more about current and upcoming programs and events here.
